Bonding – A Great Alternative

By Catherine M. Fascilla, D.D.S.

When you smile, do your teeth appear chipped, cracked, misaligned or discolored? If you are not happy with your mirror image, you may want to consider cosmetic bonding. The procedure is simple, and can usually be completed in one visit. A tooth colored composite resin material is applied to your existing teeth for an improved natural appearance.

Bonding can also be used to replace old silver fillings in the posterior (back) teeth. The old filling material is removed and the tooth is restored with a natural composite shade that matches your individual tooth color. After the material is bonded in place, the only person who will know you have fillings when you smile is you!

Bonding is just one of the many forms of cosmetic dental treatment that can improve your smile. Your dentist can recommend a particular treatment that is right for you after examining your mouth and considering your individual needs. If you don’t like the way your teeth look, ask your dentist about cosmetic bonding.
